Anyone who ventures to build a new house would have come across the term "Vasthu" Here we just give you the basic principle involved in fixing the auspicious time for performing bhumi puja. There are too many schools of Vaasthu Sastra today than the buildings under construction on our mother Earth. For the Indian soil or those who have hailed from Indian culture, it is advisable that they follow the Vaasthu Saasthra as mentioned in our ancient scriptures.
Here we mention the basic idea of Vaasthu Saastra and the time when God Vasthu is awake, the period most recommended for performing the Bhumi Puja. Vaasthu Purusha is the son of Bhuma Devi (Goddess Earth). He is the deity who is safeguarding our house. It is wise to offer him pujas before commencing the construction works of a house. He is always asleep except on the dates and times noted against the following months. Name of the Tamil Month Date Time From To Chithrai 10th 8.00 to 9.30 A.M. Vaikasi 21st 9.12 to 10.42 A.M. Aadi 11th 6.48 to 8.18 A.M. Aavani 6th 2.24 to 3.54 P.M. Aippasi 11th 6.48 to 8.18 A.M. Karthikai 8th 10. 00 to 11.30 A.M. Thai 12th 9.12 to 10.42 A.M. Maasi 20th 9,12 to 10,42 A.M. The above mentioned time duration, date and the month are fixed and remain unchanged . These days are not at all affected by dhosha due to weekly, thithi and star factors. Vaasthu Purusha is awake for one and a half hour .i.e. 90 minutes. This 90 minutes is divided into 5 equal parts of 18 minutes each. The first spell of the 18th minute is used by Vaasthu Purusha for dental cleaning. The second spell is availed for taking bath by Him. The third time frame is spent by Him for doing Puja. The fourth period is utilized for taking food. The last spell of the duration is made use of by Him for taking pans (a misture of betal leaf, lime and arecanut called Thaambulam) After this He goes to sleep again only to awake on the next month listed above. The enthusiastic builders of new houses are hereby advised to commence their Bhumi Puja ONLY during the time frame when he takes food. Then only the yearned house could be constructed without anyhurdles at all. The following optimum timings are suggested for the bhumi puja i.e. "manai koluthal" 1. Chithrai 10th Morning: 8.54 to 9.12 2. Vaikasi 21st " 10.06 to 10.24 3.Aadi 11th " 7.42 to 8.00 4.
