Ratan Tata warded Padma Vibhushan
Ratan Naval Tata, Chairman of the Tata Group was awarded the Padma Vibhushan recently and for once, not just for the Corus acquisition or the one-lakh saga but also for his unparalleled contribution to the industrial sector. The timing could not have been better. The announcement came just after the 9th Auto Expo concluded recently. The award is penultimate in the hierarchy of civilian honours in India, Bharat Ratna being the top most, which was awarded to JRD Tata earlier in 1992.
Baba Kalyani, CMD, Bharat Forge, flagship entity of the Kalyani Group was also honoured with a Padma Bhushan. Based in Pune, Kalyani is also involved with a series of projects undertaken by the Pratham Education Foundation in the area of education for the underprivileged. This award is in recognition of his contribution to the field of trade and industry.
