Tata AutoComp GY Batteries, a joint venture between Tata AutoComp Systems and GS Yuasa, Japan, is planning to scale up production at the Pune facility to one million automotive batteries by next fiscal, with provisions to ramp up to two million automotive batteries by 2010-11.TGY established in 2006, offers a comprehensive range of battery solutions for two and four wheelers, commercial vehicles and tractors under the brand name Tata Green Batteries to the domestic market. Its facility at Ranjangaon near Pune is spread over 15 acres.

The technology used in the Tata Green batteries enhances the battery life as its distinctive design minimises water loss and cuts down battery water evaporation, eliminating the need to top-up water up to 100,000 km.
